The bar area is the most characterful part of the pub, being the old blacksmith’s workshop. It has a steep pitched timbered ceiling, original stone furnace, tools, iron candle chandelier and wood burning stove. Even though The Anvil is very much food orientated, it remains a country public house at the heart of the village, used by walkers, cyclists, darts players and locals too!

All our cask and bottled beers are brewed in the county. You may find beers from Hambleton Ales in Ripon, Daleside Brewery in Harrogate, Bradfield Brewery from Sheffield, or Wold Top Brewery from Hunmanby Grange on the East Coast. Copper Dragon from Skipton provide our house Best Bitter.

Our wine list is very comprehensive featuring pressings from all of the New World Countries, alongside European classics. We frequently have a wine specials board on the bar, maybe something that has caught our eye or perhaps a bargain! At least ten wines are sold by the glass, champagne and pudding wines also.

Diners may choose to eat in here instead of the dining room.
Along with our selection of favourite spirits, we are certain that we have something for everyone.

We are very pleased to hear that we will be included in the 2011 CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
